The 8th International Symposium on Sturgeons (ISS) is to focus on the analysis of the dynamics and the drivers of the decline in sturgeon stocks worldwide, while at the same time transferring the lessons to be learnt from sustainable conservation attempts to make the investment in conservation successful.

Sturgeons were among the first species that suffered from the increasing industrialization and human population development in Europe. To date only one European river system with sturgeon populations has maintained its functionality – the Danube River – but even this last resort is highly threatened.

Registration (standard fee) and abstract submission have been extended until 31 July 2017.

A preliminary programme [pdf, 90 kB, English] is available online.

Post Conference Tours (PCT) registration will close on 14 July 2017 - please refer also to the infos on the PCT-site.
