From 24 to 26 September 2019, the international conference on dam removal and the restauration of the Sélune river takes place in Brittany and Normandy (Rennes / Avranches – Mont Saint Michel). This conference will feature the Sélune dams removals project. Many other examples from France and abroad will be the basis of inspirational exchanges and debate. This colloquium in both French and English is targeted at experts, scientists, managers, NGOs, government representatives, but also users of the Sélune river.

The first day will take place in the town of Rennes, Brittany. There will be presentations which will look at the scientific aspects of dam removals and will include presentations of restoration of ecological continuity projects and policy, around Europe and World (Finland, Japan,UK). Also, the scientific program of the Sélune project will be presented including its initial results.

The second day will take place in Avranches, Normandy. The main themes of this second day will be restoration issues for a general interest audience and for the territory (general economy, fisheries, local population…). The sharing of experiences from France, Denmark, Spain, USA… dam removal projects to inspire local debate.

The third day will be the fieldtrip, where attendees will be taken to the Selune Valley, to la Roche -qui-Boit dam, tocheck the dam removal works of the Vezins Dam, and meet the project participants.
