Fish Passage 2020 will be held from 28 June to 3 July 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal at the the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC).
The AMBER & FITHYDRO Event will explore the tensions caused by the need to draw water and generate hydropower from European Rivers and the impacts dams and other barriers have on ecosystems and habitats, as well as the way novel technologies and adaptive management can help restore stream connectivity in more efficient ways.

Wasserkraftnutzer tragen einen wesentlichen Beitrag bei der Wiederherstellung der Durchgängigkeit der Gewässer. Der fortschreitende Klimawandel fordert größere Anstrengungen für ein emissionsarmes Wirtschaften, in dem die Wasserkraft einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten kann. Dies erfordert eine gleichrangige Gewichtung von ökologischen und ökonomischen Argumenten bei der Schaffung eines guten ökologischen Zustands der Gewässer. Im Forschungsprojekt "Fischschutz und Fischabstieg in Österreich" wird die Thematik des Fischabstieges in österreichischen Fließgewässern erstmals genauer untersucht.
Grundlagen & Aktivitäten
The International Year of the Salmon (IYS) is an initiative to inform and stimulate outreach and research that aspires to establish the conditions necessary to ensure the resilience of salmon and people throughout the Northern Hemisphere. We want to bring people together, share and develop knowledge, raise awareness and take action.
2019 is the focal year of the IYS, with research and outreach continuing through to 2022.
